Our Founder: Michael Kussman
Born and raised in Southern California, Michael Kussman has always been inspired by the ocean.
As life long surfer, his artistic eye is influenced by the clean lines that nature creates in the sun, sand and surf.
From his shop in the original surf city of Hermosa Beach, California, Michael designs and hand crafts each piece of furniture with simple, yet innovative purpose. He brings a casual, soulful vibe to the most intricate and complex applications of woodworking. Each table evokes serenity with its’ effortless perfection. His craft is a unique evolution of design and inspiration, built to the highest standards of quality.
Mike’s Process
All of our hardwoods are locally sourced from sustainable suppliers. Each piece is hand picked by our team to get a cohesive grain and color match.
All wood is then milled, planed, jointed and glued together using mortise and tenon joinery. Wood expansion is expected and accounted for in the design itself, allowing our furniture to be very stable.
Michael believes that the art of furniture design is a journey that constantly evolves and grows in it’s beauty and style, just like the homes his work furnishes. His work has been featured in many prestigious design publications, and is sold all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.
